Classic Furniture:

45 Years of Trusted Renovation Service Excellence in Singapore

A good home renovation does two things at once. It shapes the space around the way you actually live. It also builds in carpentry that holds its line for decades.

At Classic Furniture, we’ve designed and built home renovation services across HDB, condominium, and landed properties for over 45 years. Our founder began his carpentry apprenticeship in 1968 at 13. From that workshop, we’ve grown into one of Singapore’s longest-running renovation firms.

That heritage shapes how we work today. Our designers and carpenters share one in-house team. We draw the design, fabricate the carpentry in our own Eunos factory, and install it with our own people. From the first sketch to the final hinge, the same team carries the project.

Why Choose Classic Furniture for Your Renovation Works in Singapore

Carpentry-First Heritage

We started as carpenters in 1968 and never stopped being them. Most renovation firms outsource the carpentry, but our in-house carpentry expertise means we still build every cabinet, wardrobe, and built-in ourselves. That trade depth shapes every renovation we deliver.

Designers and Carpenters Under One Roof

Our designers, carpenters, and project team share one in-house operation. The carpentry detailed in your design is fabricated in our own Eunos factory and installed by our own people. As a result, nothing slips between teams.

45,000 Singapore Homes Behind Us

More than 45,000 families have trusted us with their home renovations since 1980. Many return for their next home, and some bring their parents’ recommendation with them. View our renovation portfolio for a sense of the work we do.

Materials and Hardware Built to Last

We spec materials around Singapore’s humidity and the way our houses actually live. Think blockboard carcasses for stability, Blum hinges and runners for daily use, and laminate fronts chosen to hold their finish for years.

Communication You Can Plan Around

Every renovation runs with a dedicated designer who keeps you updated through a chosen channel, so you stay informed throughout.

Our Renovation Process

Our residential renovation services follow the same five-step sequence. Here’s a fuller view of what happens during renovation from first conversation to final handover.

Step 1: Consultation

We meet on site to understand your space, lifestyle, budget, and timeline. From there, we map out what’s realistic and what’s worth prioritising in the renovation.

Step 2: Design Proposal

Our in-house designers develop 2D layouts, 3D visualisations, and material samples for your review. You will see how we approach carpentry and how the rest of the space will come together.

Step 3: Permit Application

We handle HDB renovation permits for flats. For condominium projects, you prepare the MCST forms and we fill in the renovation details before you submit them.

Step 4: Renovation Works

Hacking, masonry, electrical, carpentry, and finishing run in coordinated sequence under one dedicated designer. Updates come through the channel you’ve already been using together throughout the project, so you’ll know what stage your home is in.

Step 5: Quality Check and Handover

Before we hand the keys back, we run a full quality check across the home. Anything that needs touching up is noted and addressed before handover. If issues surface afterwards, our after-sales team is on hand for support.

Renovation Services

Every property type comes with its own rules, constraints, and opportunities. We’ve spent over 45 years working across all of them in Singapore, from new BTOs to multi-level landed homes.

HDB Renovation

As a HDB renovation specialist, we dedicate a lot of our work to BTO and resale flat renovations. We know HDB timelines, hacking rules, and three-year restrictions on BTO units. Most BTO renovations we complete run in around two to three months, with carpentry from our own factory installed in the final phase.

Condominium Renovation

Condo work runs to MCST schedules and high-rise constraints. We coordinate our condominium renovation services around lift bookings, noise hours, and shared spaces so the work moves without friction. The finishes typically run higher, with premium hardware for compact, well-considered spaces.

Landed Property Renovation

Landed homes carry the most complexity, from structure and roofing to wet areas, electrical loads, and exterior finishes. As part of our landed property interior design services, we’ve handled multi-level layouts, A&A works, and older homes where the brief shifts once works begin. Our in-house team manages the chain end to end.

Kitchen Renovation

The kitchen is where carpentry earns its keep. Cabinet carcasses are sized to your appliances, and drawer heights match what’s going in. Blum hinges and runners hold up after years of daily use. From layout planning to handover, our kitchen renovation services run through our in-house team.

Renovation Cost Guide Singapore

Renovation costs in Singapore vary widely based on property type, service scope, and finishes. Below are realistic ranges drawn from projects we’ve completed across HDB, condominium, and landed homes. Every renovation is custom, so use these as a starting reference before a full consultation.

Property Type Typical Budget Range (SGD) What’s Included
HDB 3-Room $20,000 to $50,000+ Wet works, custom carpentry, mid-tier finishes
HDB 4-Room $35,000 to $70,000+ Full scope, custom carpentry, mid-tier finishes
HDB 5-Room $45,000 to $100,000+ Full scope, custom carpentry, mid to premium finishes
Condominium $50,000 to $200,000+ Full scope, premium hardware, bespoke carpentry
Landed Property $150,000 to $400,000+ Full scope bespoke carpentry, mid to premium finishes, premium hardware

For more information regarding other property sizes, please reach out to our sales team. Terms and conditions apply. Several factors shift the final figure on any renovation:

  • Hacking and wet works scope: These carry the biggest weight, since structural changes and wet area rebuilds drive the most labour and material.
  • Carpentry volume and material grade: Kitchen, wardrobes, and built-ins contribute to this component, with grade dictating the long-term finish.
  • Premium hardware and finishes: Blum runners and premium tiles or stone may lift the budget.
  • Contingency for older homes: Protects the timeline, since structural issues sometimes surface once hacking begins on resale or landed properties.

Key Factors Before You Renovate

A few decisions made early save the most time and money later. Here’s what tends to matter most before you begin.

HDB Regulations and Timelines

HDB renovation rules and timelines shape what’s possible and when. For instance, BTO owners face a three-year wait before work for bathroom walls and certain other areas can begin.

Additionally, hacking requires a permit, and works must run within HDB’s allowed hours. Older blocks may also sometimes carry tighter restrictions on scope and timing.

We handle the permit applications for you so the timeline stays on track.

Condominium and Landed Considerations

Condo renovations need MCST approval before any work begins, which adds two to four weeks to the timeline. You will need to prepare the MCST documents before we help fill in the renovation details for your submission. Lift bookings, noise hours, and access routes get fixed at this stage.

Meanwhile, landed properties bring a different set of unknowns. For example, older structures sometimes hide foundation, roofing, or electrical issues that only surface once hacking starts.

Both scenarios benefit from early planning with a team that’s handled them before.

Budget Planning and Hidden Costs

Plan for the cost of doing the job right, not just the lowest bid. For good budget planning and contingency, factor in permits, inspections, and a contingency of around 10% for unforeseen issues.

Meanwhile, older homes typically need a higher contingency, since hacking sometimes uncovers further work. Material prices for premium finishes and timber can also shift over a project’s timeline.

Frequently Asked Questions About Renovation Services in Singapore

What makes Classic Furniture a recommended renovation contractor in Singapore?

Classic Furniture has built homes for more than 45,000 Singapore families since 1980. We run design, carpentry, and installation under one in-house team, and our carpentry is fabricated in our own Eunos factory. This combination of trade depth and chain control is what we’re known and recommended for.

How much does a home renovation cost in Singapore?

Renovation service costs in Singapore vary widely depending on factors like residential property type, carpentry scope, and finishes specified. For example, a 4-room HDB BTO can run from $35,000 to $70,000. Meanwhile, condo renovations sit between $50,000 and $200,000 depending on finishes and scope. Landed properties begin at $150,000 and scale further from there

How do I choose a renovation contractor in Singapore?

To find a reliable house renovation contractor, start with the people. Find out if design, carpentry, and wet works run under one roof, or if the carpentry gets subcontracted. You should also ask to see the portfolio, the workshop, and recent client references to get an idea of what to expect. A firm confident in its work will share all three openly.

How long does a renovation typically take?

Most HDB BTO renovations run two to three months from start to handover. Resale flats often take longer due to hacking and wet works. Condo renovations sit in a similar window. Meanwhile, landed projects run from four months and above, depending on scope.

What are the HDB rules for BTO renovations?

BTO owners cannot hack the bathroom walls for the first three years after key collection. Additionally, other hacking and major works may require an HDB permit.

Renovation hours are also restricted to standard daytime windows. At Classic Furniture, we handle the HDB renovation approval process on your behalf so the timeline stays clean.

How do you communicate during the renovation project?

Your dedicated designer keeps you updated through whichever channel you’ve been using together, whether phone, email, or WhatsApp. You’ll receive a clear view of what’s next as the project moves along. On-site visits are also welcome at agreed times.
